 -mile\, individually timed ride climbs 3\,249 feet to the summit of Mt. Di
 ablo starting up South Gate Road. Mt. Diablo is one of the highest peaks i
 n the San Francisco Bay Area\, with views of the Farallon Islands and the 
 Sierras. The road is closed for safety with more than 1200 cyclists riding
  to the summit. The ride welcomes all ages\, abilities\, teams\, and bicyc
 le types. It will be a once-a-year opportunity to enjoy riding the mountai
 n without cars. Everyone celebrates after the ride with free BBQ\, prizes\
 , awards\, and live music. Come participate in this epic ride that provide
 s breathtaking scenery and test your climbing ability. At the top\, there 
 will be food and drink before you descend and ride over to Monte Vista Hig
 h School and Oak Hill Park to join the post-ride festivities. There you ca
 n cheer and perhaps join winners in 16 age categories\, including King and
  Queen of the Mountain\, and enjoy a great BBQ\, beverages\, vendors\, and
