As an emerging project of The National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), we create, manage, and organize a variety of mountain biking programs and events to get #morekidsonbikes! We promote a safe and supervised environment for Arizona’s student-athletes to practice their skills and shred while developing strong decision-making skills. Our goal is to have fun, build confidence, and push through physical and mental limits. We equally welcome all student-athletes into our league, to experience the thrill of cycling. We sincerely hope the lessons our student-athletes learn on the trail, with their friends and coaches, will carry on with them for the rest of their lives. This is why we started the league; to share the stoke with the next generation and pass it on.

Audience

Membership Info

Membership involves registering as a student-athlete or becoming a NICA Licensed Coach. Financial assistance and scholarships are available for student-athletes. Team directors are responsible for team registration, finances, and paying team fees.

How to Join

To join us as a rider, you can REGISTER and FIND A TEAM. We welcome all 6th-12th grade students. If you are interested in becoming a coach, we will teach you how, no matter what your skill level is. Learn more about becoming a coach on our website.

Activity Frequency

We organize a seasonal racing schedule with multiple events throughout the season, supported by pre-season activities and other programs throughout the year.

Typical Day/Time

While specific activity times vary by event and team, an example event like our 'AZ NICA GRiT Pedals and Pizza' is scheduled for an afternoon, from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM.

We operate throughout Arizona, supporting teams and hosting races in various locations including Tombstone, McDowell, White Tank, Old Tucson Studios, Benson, Boulder Creek, Casteel, Tempe, Gilbert, Mesa, North Phoenix, Payson, Northwest Phoenix, Red Mountain, Tucson, Sedona, Scottsdale, and Casa Grande.
